this is me

these other pages are my music, if you want to call it that. tiny music, little sounds; i don't know songs or how to play guitar. i just piece bits together improvisationally till i get a sound i like. my diary is largely instrumental.

i use very basic recording methods: computer stick mic, or an occasional direct line from my peavey 112; a sock over the mic; some bootlegged multitrack software or another; and soundforge for post-recording editing. i use cheap instruments i own (fave being a cheap danelectro dc-2) and borrow others.

next project, hopefully, will be a little less rough-hewn. i'd like to do an album based on/interpreting william faulkners as i lay dying. hopefully all-acoustic, use my mandolin and banjo and dulcimer. or maybe something completely electronics-sound-manipulation based.

if you care for some reason, i'm 23, deeply in love with an astounding girl, and i work in restoration/reuse/preservation architecture. i plan to work toward slowing the current idiotic rate of trash-suburban growth killing most u.s.a. cities, and legalise traditional forms of zoning and development for positive new growth and reasonable reurbanisation.

i used to run a boy & his pet heart, if for some reason you remember that place. i'm vegeeyin on aim. i'm "ian" at the stylus magazine dorks club. my record collection, usually a couple months behind, is here. i don't really look much like that. i look more like this.
