Passage Project Description
A city of two million, Barcelona unfolds daily through countless individual itineraries, each unraveling and stitching back the fabric of the city. The passages cut across this web with itineraries of their own, revealing, in the process, the configurations of people, objects, and spaces that make up Barcelona.
How a city is revealed -- what is revealed and described will depend upon the apparatus of looking and describing: the procedures of observation and the strategies for representation that the passage employs. The ways one observes, documents, and re-presents, are crucial to the experience and to the re-telling. Point-of-view, subject position, planning, and chance, all need to be problematized.
Possible movement types: touring, walking, strolling, drifting, commuting, driving, etc. Possible roles: tourist, detective, citizen, expatriate, etc.
