a test for exploring aspects of personality in which somebody
is shown pictures of people in various situations and asked to describe
what is happening
PICTURE: BOY PETTING A DOG
Artaud: Oh Christ. That’s you, isn’t it Doctor? As a little
boy-dog. Why don’t you tell me about that picture, Doctor. The
saliva’s still wet on your little boy-hands. If we’re going
to do this, let’s do it right. Show me a boy-dog gnawing your
tail. Or boy-dogs on boy-trees, growing like fruit.
PICTURE: COUPLE SITTING AT A TABLE
Wilde: Before this picture, these two people hated each other. They
were accidentally thrown together just before this picture. Then a miraculous
change took place. In the picture, they feel as if they are a picture,
a complete thing. They’re aware of their limits—the edges—and
they accept them. After the picture, they left.
