:: PERFORMANCE & TECH.

7/15/02

- What is primary and what is secondary (the performance or the media)

- The media works as an expedient.

- The body emerges as a site of battle.

- focusing attention on a single construction. They want to make people feel uncomfortable.

- Project 2: more creative project… create a poetics… manifesto… this is how theater is done… why are we doing this thing… definition of what your doing… there is analysis and theory within this… real practical element (very specific… we’re doing this for these reasons)… could have a historical component… manifesto can be a rejection…

- gendered toys… deals with media… deals with

- Art History: New York centered group… they count stuff… derive lots of power from actual statistics. They’re just creating charts and framing. They know the psychology of the art world, so they know the weak spots. Masks that gave them so much power… gives them a sense of equality. Subverts beauty… replaces stereotype of what women are. Fights this notion of the genius, the romantic hero. Romantic genius is always a man. Seminal comes from semen. Incredible attention to language. Collision of technique and the issue and form… knowing the audience and what language they speak… without compromising what you’re trying to do.

- you need a logo, slogan, call to arms, focus, clarification and then simplification of the issue.

- small issue:
