Submission Questions:
Where do you feel most comfortable?
Are you a team player?
Describe any hobbies, obsessions, special interests… etc.
Describe your home environment.
If you were an landscape, what would the landscape look like?
(see below)
:: Think of me as a place :: Besides it teetering on the mundane
or childish, we had no idea what to with the answers to the landscape
question. Admittedly, I came up with the question: a very sincere attempt
at getting into one of my favorite lines of a poem “Think of me
as a place.” What happens when you think of someone as a place?
D&G talk endlessly about becoming. But can we perform a “becoming”
in this respect. Is THAT what this question lends itself to? I’m
not sure.
WHAT WE ENDED UP USING:

FAILED ATTEMPTS
Test 1: Videos of different places in the background while Al
performs the lines live.
Problems:
This separated the place from the person. It resituated the body in
relation to the environment, further entrenching both in difference.
We wanted to make a different body, not perform the
same body with respect to different places or environments. Is this
the mimicry that Groz talks about? Is the transmission between people
and places an exchange? In a way, it is. Is a way, its about becoming
a place. No simply inhabiting one.
Test 2: Using all video images. So that the body BECOMES different
spaces. like wrapping bodies with the places that they're talking about.
Problems: Aside from being boring, this negates the possibility of
a LIVE body changing into something else. The sceenal body
becoming a sceenal space doesn’t achieve the effect.
NO. We’re going for re-imagining/re-imaging the LIVE body. Establishing
where the virtual and the live intersect. This just doesn’t do
it.
What are the qualities of a space? I think we have to define WHAT A
SPACE MEANS BEFORE WE CAN decide how to perform people-becoming-places.
