FETISH: FANTASY VS. REGIMENTS

We did talk about the fetishization of the doctor . It's easily understandable... the sort of sado-masochistic power relationships associated with who has control of the body. Unfortunately, we couldn't think of a way to execute these ideas. So we have JEM. He's ridiculous and funny and safe. Ahhh. At least the audience laughed.

Jem: On my last doctor's visit, I sat across from a young, friendly, attractive, attentive new doctor with dark olive skin and a strangely out-of-place, yet soothing southern accent. She listened carefully while I described my pain...some injury, some ailment...I can't remember what exactly.

We had fun with JEM. Throughout the show, we constantly characterized his melodramtic prose with silent films, and weepy exagerated movements. Here, the video depicts a love scene between Al and Win-Sie, while the actual procedure being performed was cold and calculated. We were trying to contrast the fantasy of erotic pleasure with the actuality of the doctor-patient relationship. Did we succeed? Hell, no.
