PENETRATION, INVASION, AND THE MEDICAL GAZE
In staging medicalization as a violence, a penetration; we used several
different techniques. Our stage manager (dear Win-Sie) donning doctor's
garb, prodded Al during all the monologues, playing out the specific
functions that Al was describing. She looked like a cyborg, wearing
a flashlight and live camera on top of her head. She physically forced
Al in specific positions, handled her body with cold calculated
authority, looked into her mouth, eyes, etc. We hoped that the doctor
came to embody the medical gaze (given the light and camera). She
didn't have any lines, she simply followed procedure. Also, diagrams
were projected on Allision, juxaposing the body with it's medical
representation...

Of course a few moments later, pants down , bent
over, I awaited the lubed up finger. -Cdogg Obviously, Win-Sie
is giving Al a rectal exam. The best part about this monologue
was the snapping of "the glove" (which was projected on
a large screen behind them).
Dr. Lin dropped my pants, grabbed hold of my wang
and squeezed it forcing open my urethra. He then inserted a special
cue tip, she draws out the cue tip and holds it up twisted back and
forth twists and pulled it out.-Mercedez Here, the most effective
picture was not the actual procedure, but the enormous shadows cast
by the cue tip that was being inserted into Al.
My jaw is a little on the uneven side, but only my dentist
would notice straight off. -mobile jessy This was a good example
of the live camera being used effectively. The buzzing toothbrush
(because we didn't have a real drill) became this hulking image
that took up the entire wall.
She had her hands in my mouth, massaging, probing
and rubbing, while I wondered if other people had ever discovered
a new fetish with the dental hygenist. -Yiddyyalbe Again, we
were trying to get at the penetration of the body. The invasiveness
of the medical gaze.
How about a 1/2 answer since I feel 1/2 dead.
-Bob The diagram of different bodies projected on Al's body.
It would have worked better if we'd rehearsed more carefully. Al
was never really totally covered by the diagrams.
